Who are we?

A community of like-minded people

By Surya is carried and co-created by a (growing) group of friends and like-minded people. We each have our talents and expertises that we bring together to make By Surya into a warm and welcoming physical space, with a dynamic and functional organization.

Our Story

In 2023, Dhalaï and Germa Bos (daughter and mother) decided to rent a big space at Travertijnstraat 12 in Groningen. They saw potential and - with a vision in mind - they transformed the space from a boring and grey room into a beautiful, warm, cozy and welcoming space. Unique in its style with many one-of-a-kind and handmade furniture and decoration, it offers a safe and comfortable place for many.

After months of hard work with the help of many friends and family members, the space was ready to receive more people and to be used for the creation and facilitatation of more beautiful things. With life being unexpected as it can be, it took a little while to get there and for the space to be used by more people.

In 2024, Marije Mulder joined the team to host regular sisterhood gatherings and other workshops. As she felt the same calling and motivation to use and share the space with many, she started working together with Dhalaï to set up the organization to make it happen.

And so in 2025, it finally happened! We have set up the organization and the space to welcome you, as a renter, as a facilitator of workshops, as co-creators, as visitors, and as a community!

We are excited to finally be sharing this wonderful space with you and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do <3
